Located in the vibrant town of Senglea, Cugó Gran Maçina Grand Harbour is within easy reach of Valletta, Malta’s capital. One of the hotel’s main highlights is its stunning rooftop pool with remarkable views of the Mediterranean.

From exceptional art to phenomenal music, Malta offers a plethora of things to do. Here are our five best reasons to travel to Malta in 2019:

Newly opened in December 2018 in Valletta, the MUZA Art gallery has over 20,000 works of art to discover. It is a national-community museum, the first of its kind in the world. Curator Dr Alexander Debono believes that MUZA “bridges the idea of a nation with the needs of the community”.

For example, the museum features a series of galleries dedicated to Maltese culture throughout history. Other exhibits centre on both Maltese and Italian paintings and sculpture, establishing Valletta as a prominent arts city.

The museum is situated in one of Valletta’s most well-established buildings, the Auberge d’Italie, a 16thcentury mansion that was originally built for the Italian-speaking knights of St John. The museum is worth visiting for the impressive architecture of the building alone.

Rock legend former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett is entertaining live at the Mediterranean Conference Centre this summer. He will be playing Genesis’ iconic album from 1973 “Selling England By The Pound” in its entirety. He will also be performing some key pieces from his well-known solo album Spectral Mornings. Fans can also expect highlights from his brand new album.

The Valletta Film Festival 2019 will showcase the best in independent films, including over 40 feature films and 25 short films from all over the world. The films will be displayed throughout the city at indoor and outdoor venues, turning the whole city into a cinema. The festival accepts film submissions from novice and expert filmmakers alike – for details about how to enter your film, click here.

Hear the voices of two brilliant tenors blend together in perfect harmony in this unforgettable concert. Maltese star Joseph Calleja and special guest illustrious Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli will perform together under the stars. The event will be in one of Malta’s most famous squares outside the Granaries in Floriana. They will be accompanied by Malta’s talented Philharmonic Orchestra.

Malta is considered to be the most LGBTIQ friendly country in Europe. In addition to celebrating this noteworthy accolade, this year’s Malta Pride is also celebrating the newly enacted Marriage Equality Bill. As well as celebrating gay pride, the festival will also raise awareness about LGBTIQ health related issues.

The annual Pride festival will include an open-air free street party featuring dancers, floats and concerts. The highlight of the festival will be the after-Pride dance party featuring great music from international and local DJs.
