Hotel Lürzerhof: A Spectacular New Chapter in Alpine Wellness

At a time when wellness can feel increasingly complicated, Hotel Lürzerhof offers a welcome reminder of what it can be at its best: restorative, enjoyable and rooted in the natural world.

Here, wellness is found in warm water and mountain air, in beautifully prepared food, time outdoors and treatments inspired by the surrounding landscape. It is as much about hiking beneath open skies or breathing deeply beside a mountain lake as it is about saunas, massages and quiet hours in the spa.

This balance has always been part of Lürzerhof’s appeal. Following a €10 million transformation, however, the family-owned hotel has taken its particular approach to alpine wellbeing to an entirely new level.

Reopened on 24 July, Hotel Lürzerhof now has two completely new floors, six exceptional Sky Suites and an adults-only rooftop wellness sanctuary. Its spa has expanded to an impressive 4,500m², while a new 20-metre infinity pool appears to float above the Tauern mountains.

Pilot PR has been delighted to support Hotel Lürzerhof throughout this important period of transformation. Having followed the project as it progressed, it is tremendously exciting to see the finished hotel and, finally, to share the beautiful new photography.

Alpine wellness reaches new heights at Hotel Lürzerhof

The most dramatic addition sits at the very top of the hotel.

Dedicated entirely to adults, the new fifth-floor wellness level has been designed around the surrounding landscape. Its centrepiece is a 20-metre cantilevered infinity pool, with views stretching across the mountains and changing with the seasons.

The pool is joined by panoramic saunas, beautifully designed relaxation rooms and a tea lounge, with vast windows placing nature at the heart of the experience. Timber, stone, soft colours and contemporary alpine interiors create a sense of calm without ever competing with the view.

It is a spectacular space, but its appeal lies in more than its scale. Lürzerhof’s interpretation of wellness feels refreshingly natural and uncomplicated. The facilities inside the hotel work in harmony with everything outside it: fresh air, open space, physical activity and the restorative effect of spending time in the mountains.

The new rooftop floor joins an already extensive spa, now expanded to 4,500m². With seven pools, saunas, steam rooms, relaxation spaces and new treatment rooms, Lürzerhof offers everything guests need to slow down, move, rest and feel well, whatever the season.

Meet the new Sky Suites

One floor below, the hotel has introduced six new Sky Suites and two additional rooms, bringing its total accommodation to 68 rooms and suites.

The Sky Suites are every bit as striking as the rooftop spa. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted mountain views, while expansive terraces extend the living space into the landscape. Contemporary alpine interiors combine timber, stone and beautifully understated detailing, creating rooms that feel luxurious but unmistakably connected to their surroundings.

Selected suites have their own panoramic saunas, outdoor whirlpools and private wellness spaces. These are not simply places to return to at the end of the day. They are retreats in their own right, designed for long, unhurried mornings, quiet afternoons and evenings looking out across the mountains.

Spa Rituals Worth Travelling For

The transformation has also introduced a new collection of signature treatments inspired by the landscape and traditions of the region.

The 100-minute Alpine Recovery Ritual is designed to restore tired muscles following active days in the mountains. It begins with a goat’s milk and mountain herb foot bath, followed by an Alpine herb and salt body scrub, a full-body massage with nourishing Alpine body butter and a hydrating facial ritual.

For those in need of deep relaxation, the 50-minute Alpine Calm Ritual focuses on the face, head, neck and shoulders, incorporating warm herbal compresses, massage and a restorative hand and arm ritual.

Both conclude with guided relaxation, mountain sounds and Lürzerhof Alpine herbal tea. The experience feels entirely of its setting: thoughtful, sensory and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

An alpine retreat for every season

Although this part of Austria is renowned for its winter landscape, Lürzerhof is very much a year-round destination.

In spring, the mountains begin to turn green and the valleys come back to life, creating a peaceful setting for walking, wellness and time outdoors. Summer brings long days for hiking, cycling and swimming in mountain lakes, while autumn offers clear air, quieter trails and spectacular seasonal colour.

In winter, guests have easy access to the skiing in Obertauern, just ten minutes away, together with snowshoeing, tobogganing and all the atmosphere of the snow-covered Alps.

The hotel’s spa adds another dimension to every season. Its pools, saunas and relaxation spaces provide a soothing counterpoint to active days outdoors, while the rooftop infinity pool offers an ever-changing view: fresh spring greenery, brilliant summer skies, autumn colour or mountains deep in snow.

This interplay between the hotel and its surroundings is a fundamental part of the Hotel Lürzerhof Alpine wellness experience. It is a place to be active, to restore and to reconnect with nature throughout the year.

More than a spa hotel

As impressive as the new facilities are, Lürzerhof’s appeal goes well beyond the spa.

Its location in Untertauern, around an hour from Salzburg Airport, places guests within easy reach of the mountains while retaining a strong sense of seclusion. Back at the hotel, generous Gourmet Pension Premium dining includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon refreshments and a multi-course dinner, with a strong emphasis on regional ingredients and Austrian hospitality.

Behind it all is the Habersatter family, whose warmth and hands-on approach have shaped Lürzerhof over generations. Despite the scale and ambition of this latest investment, the hotel still feels personal, authentic and firmly rooted in its home.
