The six-night Taste of Andalucía tour will start and finish in Malaga and take place on the following dates; 4th – 10th June and 15th – 21st October 2018.

Now receiving deserved worldwide acclaim, Andalucía’s fabulous cuisine has been a well-kept secret for years. Much of Andalucía’s food is still produced using centuries-old traditional methods, from fish caught in a system invented by the Phoenicians, to sherry produced in the solera system since the 1700s.

A large proportion of the bluefin tuna caught sustainably on the Cadiz coast is flown to Japan to be used in sushi and sashimi, while Andalucian olive oil regularly wins the world’s top awards. Sherry, originating from Jerez, is made using a highly specialised aging and blending process; this versatile wine has cast off its old-fashioned image and is enjoying a renaissance and new global following among the younger generation.

TOMA & COE’s trip shows you exactly how and where these uniquely Andalucian products are made, and by whom, from the animals, vines, trees and fish, through the process, to the finished article.

Many of the food producers are family-owned, and clients will be taken on a private tour - often including aspects not usually accessible to the general public, thanks to TOMA & COE's extensive network of personal friendships and relationships. The restaurants and eateries selected for the lunches and dinners celebrate the very best of local cuisine and specialities. Meals will offer an eclectic mix of gastronomic experiences.

Highlights of the Taste of Andalucía Tour include:

  • An artisan goat’s cheese workshop in Casares (Malaga) – a pretty hilltop white town just a few kilometres from the Costa del Sol.

  • A Cooking Day with Annie from Annie B´s Spanish Kitchen, starting with visits to Barbate fish market and a specialist tuna shop, followed by a fun and informative class in Vejer de la Frontera, all with one of Spain's top-rated culinary schools.

  • Visits to bodegas in Jerez and the Sierra de Ronda, the latter a picturesque area known by aficionados for its excellent boutique wineries - with tastings, naturally.

  • A visit to olive oil mills in the ancient towns of Antequera and Archidona, located at the very heart of Andalucía. This day is spent with an EVOO Professional Sommelier and producer of an award-winning olive oil who will give a tasting in the serene setting of an olive grove on a private Andalucian Cortijo.

  • A visit to a Master Cutter of the famed Jamón Ibérico in the hilltop town of Ronda. This family has won national prizes in the art of slicing jamón. Guests will taste the whole range of Jamónes available and learn the difference between the various qualities and types.

Guests will stay in boutique hotels, hand-picked for their character and location, in Malaga, Vejer de la Frontera, Ronda and Antequera.

The tour includes:

  • All accommodation in boutique hotels, plus five lunches and six dinners with soft drinks, water and beer, transport between visits, local guides and entrance fees. Extras at hotels, wine with meals, travel to the first hotel and departure from the last, and gratuities, are not included.

  • Price is from €2,886 per person based on a group of 8 in double occupancy and excluding flights. Single supplement applies.
