‘The Gut Makeover Retreat’ at Cugó Gran is inspired by ‘The Gut Makeover by Jeannette Hyde which is available in paperback and ebook, £9.99, Quercus. The Gut Makeover is a cutting-edge eating plan designed to restore digestive health for optimal weight as well as physical, emotional and mental balance. Guests effectively undertake the first five days of the 28 day Gut Makeover and are then set up to continue the programme once they get home.
The Gut Makeover Retreat takes place in the luxurious 250-acre private gated Cugó Gran Estate. This 11-room award-winning luxury villa, is located just 10 minutes from Menorca Airport and enjoys 180° sea views and is surrounded by exquisitely-scented landscaped gardens, lavender fields and vineyards. During ‘The Gut Makeover Retreat’ Jeannette will share her nutritional knowledge with guests and work closely with Cugó Gran’s Head Chef to devise delicious, gut-friendly meals inspired by vibrant and diverse Mediterranean cuisine. All the ingredients used are of the highest quality and locally-sourced where possible, many of them originating from Cugó Gran’s own chickens, kitchen and herb gardens. In addition to an individual consultation, there are group talks and a demonstration on how to make kefir. Guests are provided with a copy of the Gut Makeover book and receive further gut-friendly recipes in their departure pack.
To improve flexibility, core strength and posture beneficial to digestive health, individual and group Pilates sessions are led by Bernadette Phillips who has worked with a host of celebrity clients. Total relaxation is further ensured with an exquisite Rosalena Skincare facial and LI’TYA massage treatment provided by spa expert Kim Holland.
Finally, while relaxing by the 26-metre outdoor pool is strongly encouraged, guests can also take part in other activities, such as yoga sessions and also walk, bike or horse ride along the many beautiful sections of the famous Camí de Cavalls - an ancient path encircling the island.
