They might be best known for their luxury lakeside lodges and swanky poolside villas but Bainland Lodge Retreats pride themselves on something else – attention to the details that matter. From the warm welcome on arrival and the no-mow policy to protect the bees, to the chef’s herb garden and smell of freshly laundered linens, the team at Bainland know that the difference between a great stay and a truly memorable one lies in the detail.
Whether you are booked in for a romantic retreat in their Treehouse Lodge, sleeping under canvas with family in their oversized Safari Tents, booking a dog-friendly stay or gathering with friends in their huge holiday villas, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite little touches that sets Bainland apart:
1. Conscious Consideration of the Environment
At Bainland, supporting the local environment and community is embedded into their core thinking as well as in daily operations. From energy efficient technologies and eco-friendly heating sources for their pools and hot tubs, to EV charging stations and a huge reforestation, planting, and wilding programme under the guidance of gold medal winning Chelsea Flower Show landscape designer, Jody Lidgard, Bainland continues to make conscious decisions to instil sustainable practices that best support their Lincolnshire roots. Their current mission is to plant over 1,500 trees, in addition to shrubs and wildflowers, and have implemented a no-mow policy to protect the bees.
On top of this, Bainland has just teamed up with Lincolnshire’s Riseholme College, one of the UK’s leading agricultural colleges, to offer a sustainability and grounds management apprenticeship to two students to be personally mentored by Jody.
2. Beautiful Bathroom Amenities
While toiletries may be seen as a standard offering, that doesn’t mean the kind on offer is standard. Bainland provides a welcome collection of complimentary amenities in every bathroom. In line with their eco-friendly ethos, this bundle of goodies, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap, is from natural brand, Elsyl and contains ginseng to perfectly encapsulate the essence of nature, while helping you feel invigorated during your stay.
3. Freshly Laundered Linen
Nothing beats a fabulously fluffy robe for when you exit your al fresco hot tub or feels better than the smell of fresh sheets or the heft of a thick towel. Perhaps that’s why guests report they find it hard to leave the comfort of their luxury lodge. Bainland’s custom-designed in-house laundry department means that towels, linens, and their lovely branded robes are all freshly laundered on-site – a huge energy and environmental saving with the added bonus of no unnecessary plastic.
4. Good Honest Food
Although all lodges at Bainland come with fabulous kitchens and many with colourful Le Creuset cookware to boot, there may be times when you just want to down tools and soak up the woodland views or the big starlit skies from your terrace. Bainland has just launched a new food delivery service via their Copper Goose app with a host of popular menu items, such as delicious burgers and wood oven pizzas, which are delivered direct to your door via a fleet of electric carts. If you do fancy something a bit more social, Bainland opens their brand new bistro & bar, The Nest this summer, with its standout all-weather terrace overlooking a new outdoor children’s play area.
5. A Herb Garden
Bainland’s multi-talented bar and restaurant team have recently planted herb boxes in their kitchen garden in preparation for the opening of The Nest. Boasting indoor and outdoor spaces for year-round dining and a slick new bar area with a club-like feel, The Nest’s brand-new menu will ooze deliciously fresh flavours from the herbs picked straight from the garden. Meanwhile, favourites mint and rosemary will also be used in their extensive cocktail menu too!
6. The Bainland Family
From the maintenance crew and hot tub team to welcome hosts and Copper Goose delivery drivers, the friendly team at Bainland are always on hand to help fix, clean, or attend to any questions you may have during your stay. This professional yet close-knit team always assist with a smile on their face (including Joey the resident rescue Llama!), welcoming you straight into the Bainland family. And in many respects, despite all the fantastic little in-room details, it’s this that really makes the difference.
